  • 4 Child friendly and welcoming

After a walk around the Rouken Glen Park and a good run around the children's playground it is nice to stop for a quick break and a snack at this child friendly and welcoming cafe. The cafe offers the usual selection of coffees and teas as well nice home made looking cake selection. There is also a choice of hot meals - the usual cafe fare but still quite tasty. The walls are lined with lots of interesting paintings available to buy. The high chairs are available and there is also a changing area plus some room for buggies. It can get busy at weekends. In the summertime there are seats outside overlooking the pond and you can also buy ice cream and soft drinks from their ice cream shop without visiting the cafe.

  • 4 Chill out at Boater's

Boater's Cafe is the place to relax and have a bite to eat in Rouken Glen Park. Forget going to the Garden Centre for a coffee and panini, please. The coffee/latte/cappucino etc all taste the same in the garden centre - bland. The food is barely edible. Now in Boater's Cafe it is a totally different ball game. Oh, you need to try the Italian toast and bacon with a cappucino on a Sunday morning. Hubby recommends the cooked breakfasts. This is our place after a walk in the park. Plenty of variety as regards the menu. Child friendly cafe. Prices are competitive. Okay, the place is busy but that is a good sign. Staff extremely pleasant. Closed earlier on this year for refurbishment so decor is fresh looking.

  • 4 Nice for a quick snack

Boaters cafe is a nice place to grab something to eat, especially if you've come from far for a day out in the park. Prices are a tad high, but nice setting as its right beside the pond. Only other options are the cafe in the garden center, but I would say this is slightly better quality. Also nice to go for a fry up, even if a little on the pricey side, but its a nice place inside to sit down. You can also get an icecream next door if you don't wan't a full meal, or just would rather take a walk around.

  • 4 Glasgow South' secret cafe

In Rouken Glen park, which has great glen and forest walks as well as the usual kiddie play areas, by the pond. You can sit out in the sun and watch the swans, or rent a boat yourself. The cafe is bustling by day, excellent coffee and breakfasts but now they also offer an evening service. Nicely done inside, decorated with local artists' work of a high standard. Superb service.
