Mother India serves highly rated authentic Indian cuisine, rated by some as the best in Scotland. There is an extensive vegetarian menu and a children's menu as well as many house specialities. The restaurant is licensed although they also operate a BYO (Bring Your Own Bottle) policy.
Got to be my favourite Indian Restaurant in Glasgow. The restaurant is over three levels, with a slightly different menu in the basement. The upstairs room can be chaotic if there are big parties in, so if you're looking for a quiet meal ask for the ground floor. Top recommendations? The ginger fish pakora is excellent but the baked spiced haddock starter is to die for. I really couldnt fault any of the mains I've tried. Tpically I;ll go for one of the mab diushes and pinch a bit of whoever else is eating with me.
Just to balance the dodgy review below (see comment). This used to be the best indian in town before it's off shoot , wee curry shop, took the mantle for me.Dishes are off the wall, non standard, indian fusion foodand the standard is always high. Always good for a change from the standard fare. If I'd one fault it's that it's dificult to share food between diners, sometime of the charm in indian food, as the food is often plated up rather than on serving dishes. But it's a minor fault.p.s. Always clean from the times I've been there.
Right from entering this resturant we started to have doubts.Floor was dirty and tables dirty,we asked for our table to be cleaned in which it was and we then ordered our meal,The waiter who brought our meal had filthy clothes on and he had serious dirty finger nails that where sticking in our food.Others were complaining as well why this was going on and we then told them we will go and eat else where and left.
