Cheap 'n' cheerful

This pizza restaurant is situated in the heart of the City, and is very attractive from the outside. Modern, clean and fresh. The staff are very helpful (without being intrusive). The menu is varied (original pizza recipe ideas which appealed) and includes pastas, salads and a wide range of sides. The thing that clinched it for me was the 'white sauce' pizza. Not being a big fan of tomato based sauces I thought I'd give this a go for a change. And I'm so glad I did! Tasted like a very mild cheese sauce, and the pizza itself was generously topped with chicken, mushrooms & red onion. Perfect combination. Reasonable prices too. One of my favourites!

Average Food

It's not amongst the biggest pizza brands yet, but Pizza Express has its followers in Glasgow at least. Sadly, I'm not one of them. When I went here with friends for a pre-theater dinner, I found the pizza really very oily and thin. It might be leaning towards the traditional Italian style, but it was more likely that the chefs just didn't cook the pizza correctly. The toppings were generous and evenly spread, however the cheese was very patchy and didn't quite cover the entire pizza. The base was definitely not crispy, because of the aforementioned oil, and because of this, it tasted very fatty. It might have just been an "off-night" for the chefs, but personally I'd avoid this place and go to better established restaurants nearby, instead.

Pizza Express

An extremely busy and popular location for family meals in the heart of the city. Besides pizzas the restaurant serves a range of reasonably priced Italian food appealing to people of all ages. Once you have been shown to your table there is a range of food to choose from plus, as the premises are licensed, beers, wines and still drinks to complement the food. Service is efficient yet discrete and solicitous. Whether dining alone, as a couple or as a member of a party the staff aims to ensure you enjoy the experience. The food is attractively served and piping hot.
