  • 4 Great learning experience

I’m not all that interested in religious art or displays and so it was the look of this new building that first made me want to go inside and have a look several years ago. Sitting next to Glasgow Cathedral it actually looks very good despite being a modern building and the grounds are quite nice. I thought that being called “St. Mungos” and being located next to the Cathedral that this would be a overwhelmingly Christian museum but was very happy to find it was devoted to many faiths and truly an learning experience. I remember scratching my head as it was the first time I’d seen dates like 500CE (‘Common Era’ rather than calling it ‘AD’ which of course is Christian).Well worth a look even if you don’t care about religion,

  • 4 Good modern architecture

What? Good modern architecture? Surely some mistake! No, no mistake. It's been built very sympathetically to the surrounding buildings, standing as it does near Glasgow Cathedral, Provand's Lordship and the Royal Infirmary. The exhibition is quite interesting, but obviously not if you're uninterested in religion, although religion permeates the culture of the west of Scotland to such an extent that you really can't get away from its effects. This place presents the story of the different "sides" in an informative manner.
