i would like to write this review as a thankyou to the staff at yappies grooming. i have a 6 years old lhaso that i have alway had problems getting groomed as he is a very nervous wee dog and yappies had been recommended to me bua few friends so i thought ok here we go again another groomer that is going to advise me to get sedation for my dog(which cant be done as he has health problems) on my arrival buddy and myself were made to feel very welcome and i explained what had been happening in the past with buddy, i was asked if i could bring him back the next day when the salon was less busy so she could spend more time with him and so as she could keep him calm, i was totally delighted that someone was going to give my wee buddy the time that he deserved, the next day i dropped him of and explained what i wanted doin (if it was possible) the girls made me feel reasured that he was in safe hands and i was told to pick him up in 2hrs and if there was any problems they would contact me immediatley which kept my mind at ease but there was no need to worry as when i picked him up he looked the best i have ever seen him and was wagging his tail and wasnt as stressed as he usually is with other groomers, i am so happy i have finally got a caring groomer, i cant thank them enough P McLaughlin Glasgow

  • 3 Grooming of my dog at Yappies Gascube Road, Glasgow

After careful consideration and much research on local groomers, we selected Yappies at Maryhill Glasgow for the grooming of our dog as the reviews written on them sounded them to be warm, welcoming, friendly and loving to the dogs in their care. The full grooming session sounded marvellous and the assurance that our pet was being lovingingly cared for while away from us was comforting, compared to some of the reviews we had read from other groomers. I had tried to visit the premises prior to booking him in and unfortunately it was closed, as I would have had a better indication what I was sending him into had I met with the groomers before hand. I contacted Yappies and asked what the session would entail, and advised the groomer that why I had chosen here was based on the good reviews. While she was pleasant enough on the phone I didnt receive the warm and welcoming reception in reality that I would have hoped for or expected having previously researched the place. I found the groomer on reception to be quite abrupt and unhelpful. With this being the first time I had my dog groomed I had hoped for advice and instead I found this was not part of the service. When the owner Susan came out I didnt pick up the warm loving feelings that I had hoped to find and felt she had no time for us as customers and there was certainly no warmth displayed to my dog in my presence. There was no consultation prior to grooming even though it was stated that this was part of the treatment. They didnt ask about the health of the dog, how old he was, any concerns, absolutley nothing was asked about him. I wasnt happy with the attitude of the staff and actually walked away feeling quite uncomfortable about having left my dog in the environment. I tried to put this down to a clash of personalites and tried to remember that the reason why I had put him in Yappies was a result of the wonderful reviews and tried to put my bad feelings to the back of my mind, albeit I knew had I actually visited the premises and been spoken to by the staff in this manner prior to booking him I would not be putting him in there. When I returned for my dog he appeared well groomed.... to look at. However, it was apparant shortly after leaving that his nails either hadnt been trimmed as expected or as stated to be part of the full grooming, or they had been done very badly as they felt as long and as sharp as ever. I had particularly mentioned this to the groomer as his nails were catching your skin when he jumped up on you and there was absolutley no difference in this after his grooming. His coat was cut uneven, especially on his face, and he seemed to have a sore eye, on inspection there seems to be something in it, which was slimey and filmey and I am scared to remove it. I am hoping it comes out itself soon. I would have thought had this been noticed by the groomer that she would have highlighted it to me and made me made aware of it. His face and round his eye area was trimmed during the grooming. There was no comment made about any problems found on the dog, yet he has this film over his eye that was very noticable. While I expected him to come out smelling all lovely pampered and fresh, his coat has only a very faint smell of cologne which again was part of the grooming, but this has been very sparcley used as you actually had to lift him up close to you and sniff him to be able to smell it, and this was on only one part of his coat. I am slightly disapointed. Altough the dog looks tidier than when he went in, I certainly wouldnt rate the place or the service in the manner that the other reviewers have done and I shall continue my search for the perfect dog groomer as 'OK' is not good enough at £30 a time EK Glasgow
