Psychotherapists in Glasgow
28 Rose Street
People come to the Garnethill Centre for individual or group therapy for a variety of reasons:
* for help with a life crisis such as separation or bereavement;
* to get a better understanding of difficulties in relationships;
* for help in reassessing their life situation.
Everyone who contacts us will be seen for a first appointment within 2-3 weeks.
On this occasion the individual and the therapist work together to assess whether counselling or psychotherapy will be of help. If they agree that it would be helpful, a series of weekly appointments - usually eight - is set up, or a place is offered in a short-term counselling group, with careful monitoring of progress.
The Centre at present has three psychotherapy groups, each of which meets once or twice a week and is conducted by a specially trained Group Analyst. Group counselling is normally a short-term option. A person may take a place in a counselling group and feel after a short time that this is sufficient.
COSCA supports and promotes good practice in counselling and the use of counselling skills throughout Scotland, and facilitates preparation for appropriate professional regulation. It develops and supports high standards of competence in counselling training and practice in the full range of activities covering counselling and counselling skills.
The Garnethill Centre offers a selection of Training Courses including Certificate in Counselling Skills and Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling. Each of these courses are performed by fully qualified lecturers and train their paticipants to COSCA standards.
